Arsenal can be assured of top spot in Group C on Wednesday evening when they travel to Zurich in their final Champions League group stage fixture.
The Gunners ensured their progression to the competition’s knockout stages last week despite defeat to Lyon at the Emirates, and will seal top spot with victory in Switzerland.
They face a Zurich side rooted to the bottom of the group on zero points, having scored just once during their group stage campaign – against Arsenal at the Emirates.
When is kick off? Wednesday 21 December, 17:45 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? Wefox Arena Schaffhausen
TV channel/live stream? DAZN UEFA Women’s Champions League YouTube
Arsenal were dealt another major injury blow last time out in the Champions League, as Vivianne Miedema suffered a ruptured ACL. Fellow forward Beth Mead remains sidelined with the very same injury.
Lina Hurtig, who scored a brace in the reverse fixture against Zurich, and Kim Little returned to the Arsenal match day squad against Lyon last time out following spells on the sidelines.
Zurich are currently not a full time, professional side, and find themselves rock bottom and without a point in the Champions League group stages. Their goal at the Emirates in October was greeted with wild celebrations.
Arsenal ran out 3-1 winners when the pair last met in a relatively comfortable victory – Zurich briefly making things interesting when they halved the deficit, before the Gunners went up the other end and restored their two goal advantage almost instantly. Despite their key injury absentees, it should be another win for Arsenal, ensuring they top a very difficult Champions League group in the process.
